Growing up on a tenanted farm near Huntingdon, Tim always had a passion for agriculture, the countryside and country sports. After getting his degree from Newcastle University and finding out that the tenancy on the farm would not be renewed upon the death of his great Uncle, he started his career in agriculture and conservation. Time spent as an NFU Group Secretary, a Dalgety agronomist and manager of the Kings Game Cover business provided a wonderful introduction to many people in the farming, conservation and country sports worlds and gave him enough confidence to believe that he and Ian could establish their own business, and so, in January 2005, Oakbank Game & Conservation Ltd started trading. The rest, as they say, is history!

Outside of Oakbank, Tim is still involved with Huntingdon Rugby Club, helping organize the annual Farmers Lunch, as well as supporting the Stags whenever a free weekend allows. If he’s not at Huntingdon Rugby Club during the rugby season then you will probably find him supporting Northampton Saints, where his son, George is a player. If he’s not watching rugby in his spare time, then you might find him with gun or fishing rod in hand.

Tim is passionate about the British countryside and, as well as helping grow the Oakbank business, still finds time to write for several countryside publications and has been on the judging panel for the prestigious Purdey Awards for Game & Conservation since 2011.

The establishment of Oakbank and opportunities that it has afforded would not have been possible without the love and support of his family, namely wife, Becky, who runs the Furbank family’s hugely successful ladies fashion business, Anne Furbank of Buckden; his aforementioned son George who provides him with an incredible outlet for his love of sport and beer; and his amazing daughter Alex who, through her experience as a PE teacher at St.Peter’s School in Huntingdon, has an unmatched ability to keep Tim firmly in check!
